Two tunnel car washes in West Jordan, run by the same family that has been in the car wash business in Utah since 1988.
How we got here
Kerry Chipman joined the car wash industry in 1988, opening a Super Wash franchise in Orem, Utah. Over the following years he bought several self-serve operations, including Jax Car Wash in West Jordan.
By the mid-2000s it was clear the industry was moving toward express tunnel washing, so he began negotiating to buy the land next to Jax with the aim of building one. He bought it in 2008, then spent two years working with equipment manufacturers, other owners and people across the industry to design a tunnel that would hold up.
WaterWorks Express replaced Jax Car Wash in 2010, one of the first tunnel car washes in the Salt Lake Valley. That original site on 9000 South runs a 180-foot tunnel and finishes with our Hurricane Drying System — thirteen blowers and three one-million-BTU burners — which is why you leave dry rather than dripping.
The second location
In October 2025 we took over the wash on 7800 South, formerly Suds N Soda. Rather than reopening it as it stood, we rebuilt it: the tunnel was re-equipped, the clogged arches that had been throttling the wash were replaced, the vacuum system was overhauled, and Hurricane dryers matched to 9000 South went in at the exit. It now runs the same wash at the same prices as our original site, with twenty vacuum stalls, the only molded liner mat machine of the two, and the option of a touch-free wash on request.
What we care about
Two things, mostly. That the equipment is maintained properly — there are no bristle brushes in either tunnel, and the neoprene foam that does the cleaning gets replaced on a schedule, not when someone complains — and that the free things are actually free. The vacuums have no timer on them. You can spend forty minutes on your back seats after an $11 Express wash and nobody will come and move you on.
We are not a chain being run from another state. Both washes are ours, both are in West Jordan, and if something goes wrong you can call the location and speak to someone who works there.
